1447162 Glycyrrhetinic derivatives LANDERLAN SA 12 March 1974 10881/74 Heading C2U The invention comprises compounds of formula (wherein R is H or acyl of at least 2 carbon atoms, and R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl), and the hydrochlorides, hydrobromides and N-(C 1-4 alkyl) quaternary ammonium salts thereof; and their preparation from glycyrrhetinic acid or a 3- acylate thereof by reaction with a 1-alkyl-2- halomethylpyrrolidine to give I as an HCl or HBr salt, optionally followed by desalification with an aqueous or alcoholic alkali, optionally followed by quaternization. The inventive compounds are said to inhibit gastroduodenal ulcers.
