Abstract

1445947 Seat back adjuster AUTOMOBILOVE ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK 21 Oct 1974 45415/74 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2 ] In a pericycloidally geared self locking hinge for seat backs the drive-shaft is located centrally of the annulus 2 and is engaged with the spur 1 via a member 6, the curved end segments of which engage in recesses formed in the outer surface of the shaft. As may be seen from Fig. 1, annulus 2 is prevented from vertical displacement with respect to the wheel 1 by engagement of the teeth and is prevented from lateral displacement by the close fit of the member 6 on the shaft. As seen in Fig. 4 the recesses on the shaft are stepped, the portions separated by distance b being the close fit with member 6 shown in Fig. 1. This axial movement of the shaft will allow lateral freedom to the member 6 and hence allows the annulus to roll around it, thereby allowing rapid adjustment of the seat back angle. The shaft is axially returned to the locked position by coaxial spring acting on a knob secured thereto. Rotation of the knob effects fine adjustment in the manner usual with such gear systems.
