Abstract

1451879 Adjustable backrests A & M COUSIN ET CIE ETABS COUSIN FRERES 9 May 1974 [30 May 1973] 20540/74 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] The backrest of a vehicle seat is locked in adjusted position by the engagement of a toothed block 11 with concentric rings of teeth 6, 9 on the seat and backrest brackets 1,3 respectively, an operating handle 36 being fixed to a central shaft 12 having an integral flange 16, the handle, block and flange being provided with complementary shaped cam surfaces 38, 32, 25 and 20 which interact on rotation of the handle to cause axial movement of the block out of engagement with the teeth 9 of the backrest bracket. Each of the cam surfaces comprises three equally spaced ridges 21 and three equally spaced depressions 24.
