Abstract

1445633 Charging and discharging surfaces CANON KK 16 Aug 1973 [17 Aug 1972 25 Oct 1972 8 Nov 1972 13 Nov 1972] 38814/73 Heading G2H Photo-conductive drum 1 is imaged by light from fibre optic array 3 and simultaneously charged by electrical potential applied to a liquid layer 7 between the drum and the array, the liquid being fed through pipe 6 and removed by blade 8, which is lubricated by a second liquid 9. Preferably both liquids are insulating, they are immiscible and they are of different densities to facilitate separation for reuse. Alternatively the lubricating liquid may be in solution or mixture with the liquid of the layer 7, or the liquid of the layer 7 may be itself a lubricant.
