Abstract

1445314 Paper-making apparatus J W I Ltd 11 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 5698/75 Heading D2A A member 11 for curling up the longitudinal edge of a paper-making machine wire 20 to stop lateral stock overflow in a manner analogous to a deckle board or strap, comprises a surface 14 having an end 17 to-underlie the edge and a part inclined upwardly to underlie and curl up the edge by about “'' to 3", the member having a recess 12 in an underface 13 whereby it can be mounted as a sliding fit on a support rail 15, e.g. a foil blade support rail or an additional short support rail, for adjustment in a cross-machine direction. Preferably the members are arranged on respective support rails in pairs, one at each side of the wire. The recess 12 may as shown be T-shaped in crosssection and mate with a complementarilyshaped support rail 15. The member can be integral with the end of a foil blade as shown to the right of Fig. 5a and in Figs. 2-4 (not shown). As shown, an end of the foil blade 40 can be slit at 41 and a wedge 43 inserted to bend the end upwards.
