Abstract

1445198 Drying tobacco INDUSTRIAL NUCLEONICS CORP 2 Aug 1973 [14 Aug 1972] 36845/73 Heading F4G [Also in Division G3] In the drying of a stream of tobacco formed from laminµ and cut, rolled stems, these components may not dry at the same rate so the amount of moisture removed by the dryer is controlled by separately measuring the moisture content of the components to provide two signals which are relatively modified according to the relative drying abilities and used to derive a signal for controlling the dryer. The dryer may comprise a rotating drum or fluidized bed. The signal controlling the drier also may incorporate a signal from a feedback control loop including means to measure the moisture content of the product. The measurements are taken by transducers, the signals from which are converted into digital signals are processed by computer.
