Abstract

1445002 Selective signalling SOC INDUSTRIELLE DE LIAISONS ELECTRIQUES 14 Sept 1973 [16 Jan 1973] 43376/73 Heading G4H In a monitoring system in which a central station interrogates a plurality of substations over a two-wire line, the identity of a substation giving a given response signal to the central station is determined by counting the time from the origin of the interrogation signal to the receipt at the central station of the response signal, the position of a signal within the response signal indicating the state of the substation, A.C. being applied to the line to charge accumulators in the substations and to provide a clock signal for the substations and central station. To start an interrogation cycle, the central station interrupts the positive halfcycles of this A.C. for 200 ms. and this starts counters at the substations counting the A.C. cycles. Each station responds at a characteristic count to interrupt the positive half-cycles again at one of two positions in a respective time-slot depending on the state of the substation apparatus. A counter at the central station, counting in synchronism with the substation counters, routes the state information to storage and displays. A manual test circuit with lamp is provided in each substation.
