Abstract
1444335 Firelighter composition CIBAGEIGY AG 19 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 13773/74 Heading C5G A firelighter composition in paste form comprises 40-95 wt. per cent of an inflammable hydrocarbon liquid, 1-20 wt. per cent of a urea-formaldehyde resin, 0À1 to 10 wt. per cent of an emulsifying agent, 1-20 wt. per cent of a solid or semi-solid combustible material and 1-10% by weight of water, the liquid phase of the paste being in the form of an emulsion. The hydrocarbon may be solvent naphtha, white spirit, turpentine, paraffin or kerosene. The combustible material may be a carbohydrate, e.g. sugar, sucrose, molasses, invert sugar, syrup, sorbitol, starch, and carboxymethylcellulose. The emulsifying agent may be an alkali metal salt of a fatty acid, of an aromatic sulphonic acid, of an alcohol sulphate or of an alkyl aryl polyether. A metal salt catalyst (e.g. copper sulphate or aluminium stearate or naphthenate) for raising combustion temperature may be present in the composition.
