Abstract
1444152 Coated transparent films POLAROID CORP 31 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972 4 Dec 1972] 36376/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] A transparent photographic support, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, bears on one surface an anti-reflection coating that is transparent and has a lower refractive index than the support. The anti-reflection coating may have a refractive index at least 0.2 less than the transparent support. The transparent support may shave a refractive index of at least 1.6 and the anti-reflection coating may have a refractive index of 1.3-1.4 and may comprise poly (1, 1-dihydropentadecafluorooctyl methacrylate) optionally together with a silica coating (see Ex. 1 and 2), or a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene and optionally vinyl butyrate, hexafluoropropylene or chlorotrifluoropropylene optionally with polymethyl methacrylate (see Ex. 2). An aliphatic or aromatic compound containing at least one isocyanate or isothiocyanate group may be in the antireflection coating or between the coating and the transparent support to increase the abrasion resistance of the coating (see Ex. 3-7). The transparent support may contain a small quantity of a pigment e.g. carbon black.
