Abstract

1443471 Haymaking MASCHINENFAB RIKEN BERNARD KRONE GmbH 25 Oct 1973 [25 Oct 1972] 49701/73 Heading A1F A mower comprises at least one pair of transversely spaced, contra-rotating rotary scythe cutters 1 which define a cut crop discharge gap leading to a horizontal flail-supporting rotatable shaft 13 which is driven such that the flails rotate in the direction of travel during the lower part of their paths. A cover hood 22 is spaced from the circle 19 described by the flails and may be slotted to receive at least one, angularly adjustable array of crop crimping fingers 24 which extend between adjacent pairs of flails. The hood may have at least one crop deflecting baffle 23 which, is or are, aligned between adjacent cutters. The flails may be arranged in groups each comprising three pairs of flails, equally spaced around the shaft. The central area of the shaft, not provided with flails, may have diametrically opposed blades to prevent crop entanglement. The cutter support bar 8 and swath hood 29 can be height adjustable.
