Abstract

1443321 Yarn packages; winding TEIJIN Ltd 19 Sept 1973 44011/73 Heading B8M [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A package of crimped thermoplastic synthetic fibre yarn has a winding hardness (measured as described) of from 80-95 degrees and a moisture content such that the moisture content of the yarn at the inner portion (defined) of the package is less than or equal to the equilibrium moisture content of the yarn at a relative humidity of 60%. The yarn is preferably a polyamide yarn. The yarn may be produced by heat-setting a false twist yarn and winding the yarn on a package such that when the yarn is unwound, the force acting on the yarn at the unwinding point is opposite to the torque acting on the yarn as a result of false twist. The package may be wrapped in a moisture-impervious material, e.g. fuse-sealed thermoplastic polymeric material. The package is produced by winding the yarn at a tension of from 0À25-0À7 gm./denier in an atmosphere of relative humidity at most 60%. The yarn is preferably knitted or woven in an atmosphere of RH at least 60%.
