Abstract
1443289 Combustible compositions SOC NATIONALE DES POUDRES ET EXPLOSIFS 6 Aug 1974 [9 Aug 1973 4 Dec 1973] 34645/74 Heading C1D A mouldable thermoplastic composition comprises polyvinyl nitrate, nitrocellulose and/or polyvinyl acetate, and 2-nitro-diphenylamine. The ingredients may be mixed together with acetone and formed into granules which are moulded into combustible articles, such as cartridge cases, mortar shell ends, and detonator tubes; on combustion these artricles contribute energy for propelling projectiles. Other ingredients which may be added to the composition are cellulose acetate, dinitrotoluene, a phthalate, an ester, camphor, centralite, and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer. A porous nitrocellulose powder prepared from nitrocellulose, diphenylamine and potassium nitrate may be mixed with the composition according to the invention and the mixture moulded into cartridge cases or propellant blocks.
