Abstract
1443075 Variable capacitors JACKSON BROS (LONDON) Ltd 28 Nov 1974 [18 Jan 1974] 2505/74 Heading H1M In an air dielectric variable capacitor the rotor electrode comprises two concentric hollow cylindrical parts 32b, 34c which in the assembled state provide an annular space into which hollow cylindrical part 14c of the stator fits, the rotor further comprising inwardly directed lugs 35 engaging slots 22 in guide member 20 whereby the rotor is prevented from rotating when it is moved axially by the adjusting means. As shown the stator and the guide member 20 have respective shoulders 14b, 20b which are press fits and adhesively secured in opposite ends of insulating cylinder 12. The adjusting means comprises screw 38 co-operating with threaded portion 34a of the rotor, which portion is split as shown to provide by its resilience good contact with the screw and also to provide a "slipping clutch" mechanism at the limits of movement of screw 38.
