Abstract

1442939 Piezo-electric resonator SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 13 Sept 1974 [14 Sept 1973] 40092/74 Heading H1E To support a quartz resonator of, e.g. tuning fork form 8, springy metal support member 11 having part 13 attched to the resonator and part 17 atttached to a fixed ring base 20, the two being coupled by a resilient part 12 stepped 14 clear of the resonator but running under it until bent back on itself, can deflect elastically in the transverse direction of the fork vibration, or perpendicular to this direction. A terminal block 19 carrying terminals 23 is sealed hermetically into the evacuable enclosure member 24 and to the ring base 20, the terminals being wired 18 to Au on Cr laser-gapped electrode layers on the resonator. Alternatively the wires 18 may be replaced by a thin metal rectangular frame (Fig. 7, not shown), the ends being severed after connection. After assembly fine frequency adjustment may be made by laser evaporation of part of deposited weight pads 9. In the sealed-on lid 26, limiting protrusion 28 protects the resonator from accidental damage. Terminals 23 and earth pin 29 are connected to the external circuit.
