Abstract

1442933 Two-part coupling MOLEX Inc 25 July 1974 [13 Sept 1973] 32810/74 Heading H2E A low insertion force connector 10 for connecting a modular circuit such as a large-scale integrated circuit 12, to a printed circuit board 16 comprises a carriage 26, base 22 and spring contacts 38. Movement of the carriage 26 from an outer position, where it is retained by resilient fingers 62 and shoulders 64, to an inner position, where it is retained by resilient tabs 68 and shoulders 72, causes the cam surfaces 40 to push the spring contacts against the leads 18 of the modular circuit 12 and so capture the leads 18 between the spring contacts and the walls 96 of recesses 34. The spring contacts are retained in the base 22 by resilient tangs 80 and transverse segment 82 and may be soldered to the printed circuit conductor 14 at the end 76.
