Abstract

1442704 Refractory compositions FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 20 June 1974 [22 Aug 1973] 27474/74 Heading C1J [Also in Division P4] A composition used for forming a sleeve of a stopper rod (see Division F4) of a molten-metal handling vessel comprises 45-94% by weight of a particulate refractory material, 5-50% of a fibrous refractory material and 1-15% of a binder. The compositions set out in the examples use silica or silica+alumina as the particulate refractory, slag wool or slag wool + asbestos as the fibrous refractory and phenolformaldehyde resin, vinyl acetate resin + phenolformaldehyde resin+fireclay, or phenol-formaldehyde resin + silica sol as the binder; they can also contain 3% paper pulp or 9% crushed paper.
