1442498 Polymerizing cyanoacrylate esters JOHNSON & JOHNSON 15 March 1974 11633/74 Heading C3P A catalyst for initiating polymerization of a cyanoacrylate monomer comprises a porous material impregnated with an amine having a pK b value of 9À2 to 6À0 which is preferably a N-mono- or N,N-di-(C 1 -C 4 )alkyl aniline. The carrier may be particulate, e.g. a molecular sieve, or in rod form, e.g. wood and is stirred with or used to stir the monomer, removed before gelation and the monomer then applied to the required surface and allowed to polymerize in situ.
