Abstract

1442354 Automatic control of electrical power BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 18 Sept 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 43823/73 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] A system for the continuous supply of A.C. to a load Z2 comprises an A.C. source Q, an accumulator B and a converter T1. When the source Q is operative a device Mun maintains a switch S 1 closed and a switch S3 in th opposite position from that shown. A comparator Dl receives as inputs a desired valve of the power supplied to the converter from an adjustable device GS1 and the actual power measured by a unit MW which is supplied with a current signal from a current transformer Mi 3 and the voltage U2. The difference signal from the comparator D1 controls a voltage sensitive oscillator Os1 which, via a control device St1, adjusts the phase angle of the firing pulses supplied to thyristors in the converter Ti. A magnetic voltage regulator Suw is provided and the power regulation enables a regulation of the charging current supplied to the battery B. A battery voltage measuring unit Mubl controls the tap on the device GS1 via a coupling element Ks to enable the rising voltage of the battery to adjust the final charging current to a trickle charge. The unit Mw may be replaced by a battery current measuring unit Mib connected across a precision resistor Rw and including an inverter, an amplifier and a rectifier.
