Abstract

144,189. Hachmann, F. Nov. 11, 1919. Piston packing.-Two packing- rings 9, 10 with diagonal slits arranged to break joint are secured together by a single rivet, or, as shown, by two rivets separated by a short arc, so that the rings are free to expand. The rivets 15 are of softer material than the rings and are inserted in holes in the rings, which are screwed at the mouth and enlarged at the bottom. The rings are then pressed together in order to expand the rivets into the holes.
