Abstract

1441689 Friction false twisters HEBERLEIN & CO AG 30 Sept 1974 [1 Oct 1973 14 Feb 1974 27 May 1974] 42384/74 Heading DID A friction false twisting device comprises a main and secondary friction element on respective shafts 1 and 2 the main element comprising a convex solid of rotation with at least one annular groove, which receives a circular or annular disc of the secondary element, thus forming a yarn receiving cusp, yarn being fed to and withdrawn from the device transversely with respect to the axis of the main friction element. Embodiments are shown having one, two or three grooves and discs. The main friction element may be made of roughened anodised aluminium, metal oxide ceramics, materials with a ceramic coating, cast iron or a combination of silicon carbide and synthetic polyurethane material. For thin monofilament material synthetic polyurethane is preferable. The entry and exit halves of the main element may respectively be of synthetic polyurethane and ceramic material. The extent of penetration of the discs into the grooves may be adjustable.
