Abstract

1441578 Swivellable nozzles CREATORS Ltd 4 Sept 1973 [9 Sept 1972] 41970/72 Heading F4V A universably swivellable nozzle for use particularly in a vehicle air-conditioning system, comprises two flap valves 9, 10 mounted for opposed relative pivotal movement about shafts 11, 12 extending transversely to the nozzle; intermeshing gears whereby the shafts 11, 12 are in engagement; and manual control means in the form of a planar member 20 attached to the flap valve 10 and having an arcuate surface which may be moved to cause rotation of the flap valves. In a second embodiment, an edge of the planar member 120 engages with a plate 123 slidably mounted at the front of the nozzle. The engagement may be by means of a rack and pinion 124, 125. Both the rack and pinion and the intermeshing gears may be replaced by frictionally engaging surfaces. In operation, downward movement of the member 20, 120 will cause rotary movement of flap 10, 110, flap 9, 109 moving in a relatively opposite rotary direction due to the respective gearing.
