Abstract

1441448 Supporting catalysts in reactors W R GRACE & CO 6 Sept 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 41992/73 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Gas oil is cracked by passing the oil under substantially plug flow conditions through at least five gridwork elements 4, Fig. 1, each consisting of inorganic oxide coated with zeolite, spaced apart within a tube 1 and extending across the width of the tube. The gridwork elements may be formed of fibres, cohered beads or a porous monolith. The cracking can be preceded by removal of S and N using a gridwork of Co+Mo on alumina catalyst or followed by reforming using a gridwork of a Pt + Re on alumina catalyst.
