Abstract

The catalysts consist of a refractory, monolithic metal oxide carrier, with at least part of the surface coated with a mixt. of 30-95 wt.% Pt and 5-70 wt.% Rh. Pref. is not >70% Pd is included, pref. compsns. contg. 20-70% Pd, 20-70% Pt and 1-50% Rh. They cause catalytic oxidn. of CO and hydrocarbons in exhaust gases, esp. from vehicles and show greater initial activity and retention of activity on heating, than coatings of Pt alone.
