Abstract
1430730 Reduction of nitrogen oxides MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 Aug 1974 [10 Sept 1973 9 Oct 1973 11 Oct 1973 15 Oct 1973] 38113/74 Heading C1A [Also in Division B1] The reductive decomposition of nitrogen oxides in a gas is accomplished by treating the gas with ammonia in the presence of a catalyst containing as active ingredients vanadium oxide supported on a carrier formed at least externally of one or more of TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , CeO 2 and γ-Al 2 O 3 . Thus V 2 O 5 may be supported on a carrier formed of one or more of the other oxides above, or it may be supported on a carrier formed of a heat resistant substance, e.g. alumina, silica-alumina, diatomaceous earth, silicon carbide, mullite or cordierite, coated with one or more of the other oxides above. The preferred reaction temperature is 150-650‹ C.
