Abstract

1441437 Tube walls for furnaces; tubular heat exchange elements CLARKE CHAPMAN Ltd 18 Sept 1974 [21 Sept 1973] 44358/73 Headings F4B and F4S Adjacent tubes 10 of a tube wall, which forms a lining to a boiler combustion chamber, are joined by a web 14 or 18 which lies wholly between the diametral plane 16 in which the central longitudinal axes of the tubes lie and the plane tangential to the convex outer surfaces of the tubes remote from the chamber interior. The web, which is joined to the tubes by lengthwise welded joints, may be planar and extend parallel to the plane 16, as shown in Fig. 2, or it may be of part cylindrical form being concave towards the plane 16, as shown in Fig. 4. Each tube may have a longitudinally extending rib 20 which extends a short distance radially in a direction inclined towards the neighbouring tube.
