Abstract

1441318 Coded badge or label PLESSEY CO Ltd 23 Aug 1974 [18 Oct 1973] 48605/73 Heading G4M A badge or label carries coding in the form of marks arranged so that the distance between the centres of adjacent marks represents the code value. For a binary code two different distances are used with e.g. the smaller distance representing '0' and the larger distance '1'. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates three different distances representing '0', '1' and '2'. Preferably code marks use a 2 out of 5 code so that all digit values have an equal width and can be represented by seven equal spaces (Fig. 3, not shown) five of which contain bars between which there are three narrow spaces and two wide spaces. The label may be read using a hand held light pen.
