Abstract

144,033. Low, T. A. April 22, 1919. Tyre valves. - A tyre valve has a lift valve member adjustably loaded by a. spring and adapted to be pulled by the dust-cap tightly against a flexible valve seat clamped between the main and a supplementary casing. The valve seat 4 is held in a recess 3 formed in a casing 2 adapted to be screwed on to a standard casing from which the valve parts have been removed. The valve member 7 has a rib 11 adapted to be pressed into the flexible seat until a plane face 7<a> contacts with the seat and the solid part of the valve contacts with the flange 5. The valve spindle is threaded at its upper end to receive a nut 13 for tensioning the spring 12 and to engage a threaded boss 51 on the cap 17, which is provided with a flexible washer 50 and a depending flange adapted to protect the threads on the casing. In a modification, the supplementary casing is screwed into the main casing.
