Abstract
1439765 Coating composition IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 14 Sept 1973 [15 Sept 1972] 42882/72 Headings C3B C3P and C3R An aqueous composition suitable for use in coating by electrodeposition, comprises a pigmentary metal chromite, especially copper chromite optionally in conjunction with another copper compound. The copper chromite may be a combination product of Cr 2 O 3 and one or more moles of CuO. Chromites of Fe, Mn, Co Ni or alkaline earth metals may also be used. Fe 2 O 3 and or carbon black may additionally be present. The chromite may have a particle size of <1 Á and the total pigment volume concentration may be 1-20%. The composition may comprise as film former, an epoxy resin ester, a maleinized polybutadiene or an acidic addition polymer neutralized with a water soluble amine or inorganic base. Water dispersible aminoplasts or phenoplasts may additionally be present.
