Abstract

1439649 Locking devices SOC ANON DESOER 17 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 39020/ 73 Heading E2A In a chest of one or more drawers which is looked by both key 8, 9 and combination lock 24, the combination lock serves to prevent removal of the key until all the drawers are closed and locked and the combination lock has been fully scrambled. Each drawer 2 is associated with a spring-biassed lever 15 which, upon closing of the drawer, is withdrawn from the path of a projection 14 on a slidable rod 7 whereby rotation of a bar 10, by a key 8 and cylinder lock 9, causes an eccentric pin 11 on the bar and engaged in a slot 7a of the rod to raise the latter so that a bracket 6 on the rod receives a locking bolt on the drawer. The bar 10 carries an eccentric pin 29 engaged in a slot 19 of a slide 20 mounting a flexible strip 21 having a recess 22 in which, when the drawer is closed, is received the bolt 23 of a combination look 24 so that after scrambling of the lock, removal of the key is then possible. The strip 21 has a V-shaped portion 26 which in the locked position is located over a stop 25 but in the unlocked position abuts the stop so that rotation of the bar 10 is prevented until the bolt of the lock 24 is raised.
