Abstract

1439431 Electrically released switches LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGSGmbH 1 Feb 1974 [3 Feb 1973] 04838/74 Heading H1N In a magnet system for a D.C. circuit breaker in which a holding electromagnet 1 normally retains an armature 3 in abutment therewith against the action of a release electromagnet 5, a second armature 7 is adjustably mounted on armature 3 to be influenced by the holding magnet to enable current at which the armature 3 is released by magnet 1 and attracted to magnet 5 to be adjusted. As shown release magnet 5 is energized by a single conductor 6 and holding magnet by a conductor 4 which is divided into two parts to allow the adjusting element 9 of armature 7 to pass therethrough. Although both magnets 1 and 5 are energized by the same current because magnet 1 begins to saturate before magnet 5, at the release current, the release magnet force overcomes the holding magnet force and armature 3 is attracted. The release force is moreover assisted by the attractive force of the holding magnet on the second armature 7.
