Abstract

1439359 Pack for nested containers METAL BOX Ltd 11 July 1973 [30 May 1973] 25857/73 Headings B8P and B8C A pack for a stack of nested frusto-conical containers 7 such as paper cake cups, comprises a first member 1 and a second member 2 interlocked by their rims. The first member is provided with a re-entrant base 3 having a wall 4, of taper slightly greater than that of the walls of the containers to be packed, and a slightly diverging side wall 6. The second member has a flat top 8 and a side wall 18 of a taper matching that of the wall 4 of the first member. Interlocking of the members can be effected by providing one member (in the illustrated embodiment the first member) with a peripheral flange 9 having an upstanding wall 10, 11, 16 defining a recess 11 and the other member (the second member) with a rim portion 12 of a U-shaped cross-section, the outer limb of which snap-fits into the recess in the rim of the first member. Alternatively the members may be attached by an interference fit or by taping and one member may be hinged to the other. In use the stack of containers is retained under slight compression within the pack by engagement with the walls 4 and 18 and accurate location is achieved by engagement of the rims of the containers with the wall 6.
