Abstract

1439333 Checking register stacks PLESSEY CO Ltd 3 Sept 1973 [16 Sept 1972] 43036/72 Heading G4A A stack of registers R1-R8 is divided into sections S1-S6 (six in the embodiment shown), each section including a corresponding group of bits from each register (e.g. the fourth section has bits 13-16 for all the registers) and a separate addressing arrangement SC, and a parity bit section SP has a stage for each register R1-R8, each bit in a stage representing the parity of the bits in the corresponding position in all the sections of the associated register. The register sections may be separate integrated circuit blocks on a multi-layer printed circuit board, the address paths a-g being formed by printed circuit tracks emanating from a platedthrough hole Sp. The registers may form the capability registers of the system described in Specification 1,329,721, the arrangement enabling detection of data corruption caused by power or circuit failures or incorrect addressing.
