Abstract

1439021 Fluid regulation SKEGA AB 8 June 1973 [12 June 1972 18 Jan 1973 6 Feb 1973 9 April 1973] 27473/73 Heading G3H [Also in Division G4] A flow device for controlling the direction of a fluid stream, comprises a conduit having an inlet 3, at least one outlet 4, 5 and a pair of opposing stream-deflecting members 16, 17. The conduit may be flexible so that it can be bent longitudinally to cause relative displacement between members 16, 17 and thereby deflect the stream, e.g. to the alternative outlet. In another embodiment, Fig. 3A (not shown), expandable chambers (18, 19) provided in a flexible wall of the conduit at each side of member (16) are selectively supplied with pressurized fluid, or fluid in the chambers is expanded by electrical heating means, to cause displacement of the member (16). In Fig. 3B, (not shown), the member (17) is displaceable via a piston and cylinder arrangement (25). In other embodiments, Figs. 1A to D (not shown), the stream deflecting members are either formed by, or are attached to, bi-metallic elements and are arranged to be subjected to the temperature of the fluid inside or outside of the conduit. Any of the embodiments may be combined with a vortex amplifier to selectively direct the fluid radially or substantially tangentially into the vortex chamber, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown).
