Abstract

1438547 Safety belt locking device AUTOINDUSTRI AB 6 Aug 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 37231/73 Heading A3V A safety belt locking device includes a pendulum 42 swingable about the edge of a support spaced from a line through its centre of gravity, and supporting a yoke 44 pivoting about a shaft transverse to said line. The pendulum is surmounted by a disc 56 with a depending flange 58, overlying the flange 60 on a support 46. The yoke includes an arm 78 having a tooth 80 for engaging a toothed disc of the reel locking mechanism, and a conical elevation 70 engaging the top of disc 56. The yoke is normally urged anticlockwise about stub shafts 72 by weight arms 76. If the vehicle is accelerated or decelerated beyond a predetermined limit in any direction disc 56 pivots about a corresponding point on flange 60. Such pivoting, swings the arm of the yoke into an active position so that relative movement between the toothed disc and a rotor fixed to the reel shaft locks the reel.
