Abstract

1438455 Presses; laminating press SECIM and VOISIN & PASCAL 4 Feb 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 05078/74 Headings B5F and B5N [Also in Division B1] In a plywood, timber or filter press having fixed crossbars 9, 10, a horizontally movable crossbar 5 and horizontally-guided vertical plates 11, the plates bear lugs 12 for engagement with notches 37 on a rack 31, which is fixable in position so that it can move horizontally with the crossbar 5. In operation, the notches 37 successively engage corresponding lugs 12 and draw the plates apart by a distance l. As shown, the rack 31 is vertically movable under the action of a jack 36 and is fixed in position by a bolt 24, and the crossbar 5 is moved by a jack 14. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown), two sets of racks 31, each set operating on a different group of plates, are provided, whereby one group of plates is drawn apart while the other group remains closed. A vertically movable rack, having notches for engaging projections on the plates, may be provided for maintaining the plates in spaced positions when necessary.
