Abstract
1438269 Purification of phosphoric acid AZOTE ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES SA 28 Feb 1975 [19 March 1974] 8573/75 Heading C1A Wet process phosphoric acid, containing anionic and cationic impurities, e.g. SO 4 # F-, Ca, Mg, Fe, Al, is purified by reacting the impure acid, in a first stage, with urea and crystallizing urea phosphate from the mother liquor containing the major part of the impurities; the reaction mixture is then subjected to solids/ liquid separation and, in a second stage, the urea phosphate reacted with nitric acid to regenerate purified phosphoric acid and form urea nitrate. Optionally in the first stage of the process a part of the separated mother liquor can be recycled to the reaction mixture and in the second stage a portion of the purified phosphoric acid recycled to the urea phosphate/ nitric acid reaction mixture.
