Abstract

1437770 Ignition systems LUMENITION Ltd 31 May 1974 24307/74 Heading F1B A transistorized ignition system disclosed in Specification 1330453, in which the voltage across the emitter-base junction of every transistor TR1, TR2 and TR3 is clamped by diodes D1, D2 and D3 connected thereacross to prevent the reverse voltage across the junctions from exceeding the transistor breakdown value. The power stage P consists of a Darlington pair TR4, TR5 or a single transistor, and is protected by a diode D5 and a Zener diode Z2 connected in parallel with a capacitor C1 across the base of transistor TR4 and the collector of TR5. The voltage supply to a gallium arsenide lamp GA, a photo-transistor PH and the transistors TR1, TR2 is obtained across a Zener diode Z1 which stabilizes the voltage at 7.5 volts, and is connected in series with a resistor R1 across the battery voltage at 12 volts. Two, three or four transistors may be provided in the trigger circuit.
