Abstract

1437732 Making bibs SOC DITE MUTEXIL 29 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 04080/74 Heading A3V [Also in Diyision B5] A process for making a stack of detachable infants bibs each of which is liquid-impermeable as a whole and liquid absorbent, comprises superimposing two or more layers A, B, C on each other, each layer being constituted by three sheets, the central one of which is a film 7, 8, 9 made of heat-fusible, liquid impermeable material e.g. polyethylene, and two outer sheets 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 each of fibrous, liquid-absorbent, non-fusible material e.g. tissue or non-woven fabric, the superposed layers on the form of a stack being subjected to heat treatment to soften the central sheet of each layer, and the application of pressure to join the central heat-fusible sheet and the two fibrous sheets together where the pressure is exerted. The pressure may be applied all over the stack or at preselected zones e.g. by press platens 11, 11' provided with electrically heated bars.
