Abstract

1437629 Containers AMERICAN STERILIZER CO 3 Aug 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 37075/73 eading B8P A container 30 is provided with two ribs 73 which extend beneath base 49 to support the container on a horizontal surface, and further comprises a hanger bar 84 extending rearwardly from the upper part of rear wall 52, together with two horizontally spaced stabilizing elements 88, 89 which extend rearwardly from the lower part of the rear wall 52 so that the container may be suspended on a vertical support. Recesses 97 formed in the base of each stabilizing element receive the top edge of the rear wall of a second container, as shown in Fig. 10. Flanges 54, 56 frame the front opening of the container and is provided at its upper ends with recesses 103 which also serve to locate the containers in superposition. A skirt 80, 81 depending from the container side and rear walls is interrupted by recesses 47 which facilitate raising the container from a flat surface. The upper portions of the outer surfaces of the side and rear walls are chamfered as at 58. Posts 60, 62 in the corners of the container serve to support a shelf or wire rack. A retaining panel may extend across the lower part of the container front opening, being anchored between the flange 54 and the adjacent posts 60. The inner surface of the base 49 slopes downwardly from the front of the container. A closure member (Fig. 2, not shown) is shaped to cover the open top and front of the container. The top panel of the cover has a downwardly depending skirt which seats over the chamfered upper edges of the container walls, while the front panel of the cover is provided with a projecting bead which snaps under the lower edge of the front flange 56.
