Abstract

1437590 Applying adhesive to webs LAMSON INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 Aug 1974 [4 Sept 1973] 37749/74 Heading D1L Strips of adhesive are applied to a web 22 by intermittently contacting the web with engraved roller 10 partially immersed in adhesive bath 14, the web being contacted with the roller 10 by means of a second roller 17 provided with a compressible member 23 e.g. a rubber strip, releasably attached to the second roller surface. The two rollers may be provided with a common drive via intermeshing gears. The engraved roller may have 10-15 lines per inch thereon, Fig. 3 (not shown), to form quadrangular cells with sides perpendicular to the roller surface. The adhesive may be heated by the engraved roller and by a heater in the bath 14. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1338794.
