Abstract

1437516 Roll holder and dispenser T OKAMURA 30 Nov 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 55766/73 Heading B8M A toilet paper roll holding and dispensing device comprises a housing having a front dispensing window 10, and upright grooves 14 in opposed side walls to hold replacement rolls R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>11</SP>. A rockable paper roll receiving and core discharge member 20 is pivotally mounted near its upper end at 21<SP>1</SP> on the side walls 3 below the grooves 14 and comprises a pair of upright arms 21 spaced apart and having end parts 22 to support the core C<SP>1</SP> of the lowermost replacement roll R<SP>1</SP>. A pair of curved tracks 16 is provided one on each side wall 3 for engagement by the core C of the roll R is use the tracks being arranged to follow the path of movement of the lower ends of the arms 21 which arms also engage the core C. The centre of gravity of the member 20 is arranged so that the lower ends of the arms 21 move rearwardly as the weight of the roll in use diminishes until the member reaches a base position with its centre of gravity vertically below the pivots 21<SP>1</SP> when the roll is exhausted. Means are provided for moving the lower ends of the arms rearwardly past the base position so that the upper ends 22 of the arms allow the roll R<SP>1</SP> to drop to the tracks 16 after the core C of the used roll has been discharged on reaching the rear end of the tracks. The member 20 may be pushed from the base position to the discharge and replacement position by means of a bar 23 accessible through the opening 10, or by a knob 24 on an arm 21 extending through a slot in a side wall of the housing. The device may include a cutting blade 11. The space between the ends of the tracks 16 and the rear wall 4 of the housing is just greater than the diameter of a core C so as to prevent theft of partially used or full rolls.
