1437505 Clips BABOLAT-MAILLOT-WIT and G DISCHINGER 30 Nov 1973 [1 Dec 1972] 55700/73 Heading E2B [Also in Division A6] A crosspiece guide means 28 made of low friction, self-lubricating synthetic material e.g. polyformaldehyde, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyamide containing graphite or molybdenum based lubricant or polypropylene with similar additives, comprises crossed elements having ring-shaped portions 30, 32 adapted to at least partly compass the circumference of respective crossed strings 16, 20 when positioned at the string crossing points of a tennis racket In one embodiment of the invention, Fig. 3, the wing shaped portions encompass one half the circumference of the strings and have parallel end portions 34, 36 which are tangential to the strings and which may extend beyond the strings. In another embodiment Fig. 7 (not shown) the crossed elements (40), (38) are almost tubular each having a slot (46) by means of which ithe string may be inserted into the bare (44) and flanges (42) which give reinforcement to the walls of the crossed elements. The crosspiece guide means are preferably used with gut strings the elastic characteristics of which are maintained while damage due to friction at the crossing points is reduced.
