1437387 Milking parlour G L GULLESON 24 Oct 1973 49584/73 Heading AIM A milking parlour 11 comprises a stationary, annular platform 19, contiguous with an upwardly extending wall 21 which with parallel wall 23 defines a food trough 25. The platform 19 is divided into stalls 112 by radial arms 57 rotatably mounted on a hollow vertically extending central pipe 31 which is supported from below and by arms 36 attached to enclosure 12, and which houses a wash line 37, milk line 39 and vacuum line 41. A collar 51 with radially, outwardly directed pipes insertable in arms 57 is provided on, and is rotatable about, pipe 31. Circular L-shaped angle irons, downwardly directed arms and further horizontally extending pipes together with the arms 57 comprise a frame structure 50 which is rotated by motor means 97 via a frictionally engaged chain 95, causing the cows to walk slowly around the platform 19, while being milked, from ingress point 133 to egress point 134 and thence through gate 136. The frame structure 50 is further supported on rollers by one of the circular L-shaped angle irons which engages on its vertical side with further rollers to provide a horizontal stabilizing force. The outer parts 111 of frame 50 are pivotable from their first position shown in Figure 1 to a position which allows more access for cleaning purposes. The position of the feed trough 25 permits a cow to turn its head to feed thus reducing the amount of space required. A dribble trough 135 is provided to catch food falling from the cow.
