Abstract

1436922 Acid metal cleaning composition HOECHST AG 5 Feb 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 05278/74 Heading C7E An acidic, solid or aqueous composition based on sulphamic acid and used for metal cleaning contains 0À1-10 wt. per cent, based on the acid, of an inhibiter of Formula, wherein R' is C6-18 straight or branched alkyl, R" is H or C1-18 straight or branched alkyl, R''' is -COO<SP>-</SP> or -CONH 2 , n is zero when R''' is -COO<SP>-</SP> and is 1 when R''' is -CONH2, and X<SP>-</SP> is a halide ion. Many inhibitors are listed, those with R' as C 12 H 25 , R" as H and X as C1-being preferred. Other ingredients may include diethyl- or dibutylthiourea, a non-ionic wetting agent based on ethylene oxide adducted with alkyl phenols, aliphatic alcohols or amines and a pH indicator e.g. methyl orange. The metal treated may be zinc, iron or steel.
