Abstract
143,675. Whittle, E. March 27, 1919. Emergency power cut-off gear.-To prevent injury through a person being caught in the wellopening of a hoist or lift bv the moving cage, flexible guards or a bar fixed across the well opening are connected to the driving-gear by trip mechanism. The guards are connected by a cord d<2> to a trip-lever e adapted to release a weighted bent lever o which, as it swings over, strikes the bent-over end of a spring-pressed slide n and withdraws its end from a notch in a weighted rod m. The rod m is connected by flexible connexion h<1> to a pulley h on the usual belt-fork operating shaft g, so that the movement of the guard causes the belt to be moved on to the idle pulley and the cage stopped. The trip-lever e may be operated by a solenoid controlled by the movement of the guard.
