Abstract
1436558 Ion-implanted oxides UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 24 Sept 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 41930/72 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions B1 and C7] Catalysts consisting of an active region formed at the surface of a substrate are prepared by exposing an oxide of Cr, Mn, Co or Ni or alumina to an ion-beam comprising an ion-species which is La<SP>+</SP>, Pr<SP>+</SP>, Nd<SP>+</SP>, Pb<SP>+</SP>, Cu<SP>+</SP> and/or Cr<SP>+</SP>, the beam having sufficient energy to implant the ions into the substrate to form the active region. The substrate may be particulate or in the form of a lamella. Embodiments described are the implantation of La<SP>+</SP>, Pr<SP>+</SP> or Nd<SP>+</SP> into particulate oxides of Co or Mn and of Cu<SP>+</SP> or Cr<SP>+</SP> into alumina spheres.
