Abstract

1435909 Shower J W I Ltd 13 Dec 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 57617/72 Heading D2A [Also in Division B2] A shower for use in a papermaking machine, see Fig. 1, comprising an endless fabric belt 1 comprises a pipe 11, see Fig. 4, having nozzles 12 each of which forms an angle Ï of less than 90‹ with the pipe and aranged such that those left and right of centre have-their outlets slanted towards the left and right hand ends of the pipe respectively. The nozzles may be of the needle or fish tail type, and, in the latter case, may be rotated. The shower may be arranged to spray the belt just after it has passed around the couch drive roll 9, see Fig. 1, or, in the event of separate couch and drive rolls, (Fig. 2 not shown) after passage around the latter. The shower may also be oscillated. Vertically-directed nozzles may be incorporated in the shower. A splash guard 20, see Fig. 1, may be used.
