Abstract

1435847 α-Alkanoyloxy alkyl esters of penicillins LABORATORIOS LANDERLAN SA 20 Feb 1974 [17 July 1973] 7719/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds I in which R, R 1 and R 3 are alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic groups optionally substituted and R 1 may additionally be hydrogen and R 2 is hydrogen or C 1 -C 6 alkyl are prepared by reacting a salt of compound II with X-CH(R 2 )-OCOR 3 in which X is chlorine or bromine. Compounds I (R = Ph; R 1 = H, Me, Et, Ph, o-HO-C 6 H 4 ; R 2 = H; R 3 = Me, Et, Pr, t-Bu) are prepared. Compounds II may be prepared (preferably in situ) by reacting a salt of a compound IV with an aldehyde R 1 -CHO. Compounds I are anti-bacterial agents.
