1435811 Razor blades WARNER-LAMBERT CO 24 April 1973 20340/73 Heading B4B [Also in Division C7] The cutting edge of a razor blade 101 made of C steel, stainless steel, Cr steel, W steel, Mo steel or Cr-Ni steel is coated with a first layer I of a refractory material such as synthetic sapphire, corundum, Al 2 O 3 , glass, quartz, BeO, SiC, WC or BN, a second layer II of a metal or alloy such as at least one of Cr, Pt, Ti, Al and Fe and an outer layer III of a lubricious polymer such as P.T.F.E., polypropylene, polyhexafluoropropylene, polychlorotrifluoroethylene or polyethylene or copolymers or telomers thereof. The coatings are preferably applied by R.F. sputtering.
