Abstract

1435575 Reactive metal complex azo dyestuffs BAYER AG 29 Aug 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 40638/73 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula wherein M is the radical of a metal bound as a complex; A and A<SP>1</SP> are each H or a non-ionic substituent; X is a single substituent in either of the positions meta to the azo group and is -WN(R)BQ where W is a direct bond or bridge member, R is H or C 1-4 alkyl, -BQ is a fibre-reactive radical with B a direct bond or a bridge member, m is 1 or 2, and n is zero or/are prepared by metallizing or oxidatively coppering dyestuffs of the formula (wherein Z is H or OH) these being prepared by diazotizing a compound of the formula (wherein Z<SP>11</SP> is H, OH, halogen, NH 2 or alkoxy and Y 1 is H or acyl) coupling with a phenol of the formula (wherein Y 2 is NO 2 , NH 2 , acylamino or -W-NR-B-Q) to give a dyestuff of the formula and, when necessary, hydrolysing -OY 1 to -OH, converting Y 2 into -N(R)-B-Q via -N(R)H and/or converting Z<SP>11</SP> to OH. Alternatively the novel duestuffs may be prepared by reacting dyestuffs of the formula with compounds V-B-Q (wherein V is a removable radical) these duestuffs being prepared by diazotizing an aniline of the formula (wherein Y 3 is NO 2 or -W-N(R)-acyl and Y 4 is halogen, alkoxy or OH) and coupling with a compound of the formula (wherein Z<SP>1</SP> is -NH- or -O-) to give a dyestuff of the formula and, where necessary, converting -Z<SP>1</SP>H to -OH, Y 4 to OH and/or -OY 1 to -OH, and converting Y 3 to -W-N(R)H, and metallizing at an appropriate stage. The novel dyestuffs are suitable for dyeing and printing materials such as cotton, rayon, wool, silk and synthetic polyamides.
